Resting in front of the TV during summer doesn’t have to happen indoors.

There is no better way to load up on vitamin D than being out in the sun. But, we have to admit, sometimes hot weather, cold drinks, and good friends are not enough. Sometimes we want to enjoy a football game or an MMA fight while hanging out with friends outdoors.

The problem is that not every television set is fit for outdoor usage. That’s why outdoor TVs were created. Nothing beats watching your favorite movie from a hammock or enjoying a BBQ with friends while enjoying outdoor television.

A good outdoor TV is hard to find, and not all of them are created equal. Fortunately, we took our time to choose the 9 best outdoor TVs. While there is plenty of information to soak in, don’t worry. We have laid out everything in front of you, so you will be able to choose an outside TV that fits your lifestyle and needs.

In Short

The Mirage Vision G Series Outdoor LED HD TV has shown the best performance results. It is customized for outdoor use, giving awesome protection from weather elements. It has a good operational temperature range and is one of the brightest and thinnest models on the market. Finally, it uses 40% less energy than other models.

If you want a television set that can survive snow, water, dust, insects, and extreme temperatures, the SunBriteTV Veranda Outdoor TV is a good option. It is designed to be used in the shade, but it is one of the most affordable models on the market.

The first thing you should know is that Mirage Vision doesn’t manufacture its TVs. Instead, the company retrofits regular indoor units to enable them for outdoor usage, without changing the original features. Mirage Vision uses units from famous companies like LG, Sharp, Samsung, and Vizio.

Mirage Vision is a reputable brand famous throughout the USA. Many clients like Universal Studios, The U.S. Army, NASA, Disney, and others, use Mirage Vision television sets. This is a testament to the quality provided by Mirage Vision.

Design and Features

The Mirage Vision G Series is known as the “World’s Thinnest Outdoor LED TV”. It is a retrofitted Samsung LED TV that can resist some of the harshest weather conditions. You can enjoy watching movies on it during a rainstorm or a dust storm, but we advise against it. Not because something might happen to the TV. The Mirage Vision G is also resistant to snow and insects, which makes it a good choice for any season. Not only does this unit survive weather elements, but it also doesn’t fail during extreme temperatures. The Mirage Vision G can operate safely in temperatures ranging from -25°F to 145°F.

The Vision G comes with two 10W internal speakers. Some users find the speakers good enough, but you will have a better experience if you use external speakers. You will notice that this television set comes with four HDMI ports, an RCA connector, and a USB connection. It also allows for component video for fans of analog technology.

If you own a cafe or a restaurant and need something to entertain your guests, the Mirage Vision G Series could be an excellent choice. It boasts an astonishing 16.7 million colors, and an Enhanced Brightness LED Backlight Modulation Technology.

Most of the outdoor small screens have high contrast, which can influence energy consumption. Fortunately, the Mirage Vision G Series is 40% more energy efficient than traditional TVs. You no longer have to worry about your outdoor TV increasing your electricity bills. We love the fact that Mirage Vision includes a weatherproof remote with this TV.

Things to Consider

Unfortunately, not everything is perfect with this model. The biggest complaint we have is the lack of HDR. The HDR technology does wonder at making the picture brighter, and it is a shame that Mirage Vision hasn’t included it with this model.

The price could’ve been lower, but it is really hard to pass on this model due to all the features it offers.

Summary

The Mirage Vision Series G Outdoor LED HD TV is an excellent choice for all weather conditions. It is extremely thin, and the screen offers 16.7 million colors.

It might not be the brightest or the cheapest unit, but we think that this model is worth checking out.

This television set is designed from the ground up to fit for outside use. Better yet, it comes in four different sizes, 43″, 55″, 65″, and 75″. The freedom to choose a size gives you plenty of options to fit it into your backyard.

The SunBriteTV Veranda Outdoor TV is not the prettiest model we have seen. Substance is more important than style to the SunBriteTV, and we respect that. The outdoors can be harsh, and even the prettiest TV tends to end up looking scruffy.

This television set is a prime example of a beefy unit that looks like it could withstand a kick from a mule. If you have rowdy friends with whom you like to party, then think about getting this model.

Design and Features

SunBriteTV is one of the sturdiest models on the market. You won’t find any lightweight plastic that cracks after a minor bump. You will find a powder-coated aluminum construction that keeps everything together.

The front of the unit has a shiny finish, while the back has a matte finish. The two sides are bolted together and sealed. You won’t see any moisture and dirt getting inside.

The whole TV is enclosed and has zero vents. The lack of vents prevents dust and insects from getting inside and wreaking havoc.

If you need an outdoor TV that is built like a truck, this is the one to think about. It can operate in temperatures from -24°F to 122°F. It can also survive harsh weather like rain and snow.

The Veranda Outdoor TV weighs 47 pounds, which is not extreme. We are glad that it isn’t heavy since it is intended for wall mounting. If you don’t have any experience mounting hardware, you can use a tabletop stand, which is sold separately.

Don’t worry about the picture quality, because Veranda TV lets you enjoy your favorite shows in 4K. It features a commercial-grade anti-glare screen for maximum enjoyment. The LED backlight technology with a maximum brightness of 700 nits allows you to enjoy movies in heavy sunlight.

This sturdy outdoor TV comes with a weatherproof remote that can even survive a drop in the pool. Just don’t let the remote sit in water for more than a minute.

When it comes to connectivity, the Veranda TV comes with two HDMI ports. It also includes an RCA connector, component and composite inputs, and a VGA port. You can use its RF connector if you want to attach your antenna to it. You will also find a USB port and an Ethernet port.

The inclusion of an Ethernet port might make you think that Veranda TV has Smart functions, but that is not the case. Fortunately, you can use a streaming stick or Google Chromecast to add more functionality.

Veranda TV has a 60Hz refresh rate, which doesn’t prevent quick-moving objects from appearing a bit choppy. Two included 20-watt speakers are enough for enjoying television shows and movies. If the loudness is not enough for you, a speaker bar output can help you connect your soundbar or speakers.

Things to Consider

While the remote controller is weatherproof, all of the buttons feel the same. You won’t be able to tell which button you are pressing unless you look at the remote.

You can play video games on the Veranda TV, but the lag time is too great at 73ms. If you are a gamer, you know that a lag of 73ms is too much.

Another noticeable problem is color shifting. If you sit in front of the unit, you will barely notice it. Unfortunately, those sitting next to you won’t see the same picture as you. Color overall is a bit oversaturated, which makes it hard to distinguish fine color differences.

Summary

The SunBriteTV Veranda TV is a sturdy model that can withstand harsh weather conditions. It can survive wind, rain, dust, and snow, and it doesn’t let any insects inside.

It supports the 4K resolution and comes with speakers that provide good sound quality and clarity. It isn’t the most beautiful model, but it has an amazing operating temperature range.

It is affordable and lets you enjoy movies, shows, and even video games outside. It is not a Smart model, but it has a higher brightness than most indoor units.

If you are looking for the best outdoor TV that money can buy, this one might make the cut.

It is not a retrofitted, but designed to be an outdoor television set. You can find it in four sizes, 43″, 55″, 65″, and 75″. Size choices are important. Not all sizes are fit for the backyard, nor are all a good choice for an outdoor cafe.

The SunBriteTV Signature Series is a good-looking television set. It won’t draw too much attention, but it looks sleek and modern. It is a TV that looks great in a restaurant or an outdoor bar.

Design and Features

The first thing we’ve noticed about the Signature Series is the rugged aluminum chassis. It has a black-powder-coat paint job that protects it from weather and rust. The bezels of the screen have a glossy finish, while the rear is flat black. It won’t draw too much attention, but we like the way it looks.

When it comes to weight, this model is a tad too heavy. It weighs 68.5 pounds, which might put a strain on your back if you carry it alone. Weight is the price we have to pay for the safety from weather elements.

When it comes to weather elements, this unit can survive hot summer months as well as freezing winter months. We love the fact that the back of the TV houses a secure panel for power and A/V connections. The panel has a foam-rubber gasket along the bottom to protect the cables from moisture. SunBriteTV has put a lot of thought into weatherproofing this model, and it shows.

The chassis on the Signature Series TV allows you to mount it to a wall, but you can also use a tabletop stand. The operating temperatures are great, which we have come to expect from SunBriteTV. You can enjoy movies in temperatures from -24°F to 122°F.

The screen has an anti-glare coating that helps against sunlight and reflection. This model delivers gorgeous 4K UHD picture for maximum viewing pleasure. You will be able to enjoy richly-detailed shadows and realistic, vibrant colors.

The viewing angles are not great. If you sit in front of the SunBriteTV Signature series, you won’t notice any problems. On the other hand, if you view it from an angle, you will notice colors morphing.

The brightness of this TV is excellent. The maximum brightness of 700 nits allows you to watch sports outdoors even in significant sunlight. You won’t notice any reflection in the sun or shade.

When it comes to color reproduction, this model is similar to indoor models, which is great. Unfortunately, the color accuracy is not excellent, but that’s a small price to pay for outdoor capabilities. The remote controller included with the SunBriteTV Signature Series is waterproof. It can survive being dropped into puddles of water, but don’t let it sit for too long in the water.

When it comes to ports, it is no wonder to see two HDMI ports and two USB ports. You also get component and composite video inputs, and an Ethernet port. If you want to watch cable television, you can use the coaxial connection. You will also find an IR sensor and a speaker output. Unfortunately, there is no Smart functionality, but you can use Google Chromecast to watch YouTube videos.

Things to Consider

The first thing you will probably notice is that this outdoor television set is expensive. The price wouldn’t be a massive problem were it not for other minor snags.

Unfortunately, this model comes with no built-in speakers. You can purchase a soundboard that’s sold separately, but it is an added expense.

Another minor problem is the remote controller. It lacks any notable features beyond weatherproofing. Moreover, it is frustrating to use since you can’t distinguish different buttons.

Summary

This outdoor TV is weatherproof and has awesome operating temperatures. It can withstand rain, snow, dust, and insects. It also boasts a screen that delivers 4K UHD picture with stunning brightness.

SunBriteTV Signature Series is an excellent unit for restaurants, cafes, backyards, beaches, and more. It looks sleek, and its functionality is nothing to be scoffed at.

Unfortunately, the lack of built-in speakers adds up to an already high price. Finally, this is an outdoor TV worth thinking about if you don’t want to spare expenses. It won’t rust, and it won’t fail due to bad weather.

4. SunbriteTV Pro Series Direct Sun TV - Best TV for direct sunlight

We’ve mentioned a few SunBriteTV units, but we’ve saved the best one for last.

If you don’t make compromises, and you want only the best, this model might be the one you want.

The Pro Series is designed to entertain you even in direct sunlight. You can place it just about anywhere outside, and you won’t have problems enjoying your favorite movies.

This unit comes in many sizes. You can choose between 32”, 42”, 49”, and 55” sizes. We love the fact that the screen is protected with tempered glass, which is great if you have kids.

The Pro Series looks great. The minimal design makes it look modern and sleek. This television set can accompany the aesthetics of your porch, backyard, restaurant, or a cafe.

Design and Features

The weatherproof powder-coated aluminum exterior protects the inside of the unit from weather elements. It can withstand rain, snow, dust, insects, and salt.

The screen protection is what makes this model stand out from the rest. The tempered glass shield offers plenty of protection in active environments. You can place the Pro Series on patios, poolsides, and decks without worrying that something will shatter the screen. We love the fact that the shield can be taken off for servicing and repairs.

When it comes to the screen itself, we gotta say that it’s great. It is a heat-resistant LED screen with an anti glare feature. It also features protection from the isotropic blackout. Isotropic blackout happens when panels in a television overheat and temporarily shut down. While isotropic blackout doesn’t cause permanent damage, you wouldn’t want black splotches on the screen during a movie.

You can enjoy your favorite shows on the ultra-bright 1080p HD screen without any hiccups. The lack of 4K support is strange, to say the least. Fortunately, we haven’t noticed any complaints related to picture quality.

The airflow of the Pro Series Direct Sun is amazing. It allows the unit to survive the most extreme temperatures ranging from -40°F to 122°F. You can easily enjoy a basketball match while enjoying hot cocoa outdoors during winter. You can also have a movie marathon outside on a hot summer’s day.

The Pro Series Direct Sun Outdoor comes with a 20W speaker bar. The all-weather speaker bar is detachable. So, if you don’t like the sound quality of the included speaker bar, you can use a different one.

When it comes to input and output, the Pro Series does not disappoint. The inputs include two HDMI ports and a USB port. You also receive one component and one composite input. You will notice the VGA input, as well as the RCA. If you want to use your antenna, you can do it with the coaxial RF input. When it comes to output, you will find one digital SPDIF and a 1/8-inch AUX.

This gorgeous television comes with an AC power bank that can power streaming devices. You will find both 5V and 12V power outputs on it, which eliminates the need for extra power cables.

The remote controller is similar to the ones that come with other SunBriteTV units. It is weatherproof and can withstand being submerged into a pool, albeit for a short time.

Things to Consider

While this television works well in all weather conditions, the price is high. The Pro Series lacks the 4K resolution, which can’t be overlooked.

We have come to expect the lack of certain functions in outdoor models, but it is a shame that there is no Bluetooth support.

The remote controller included with this outdoor TV is frustrating to use since all of the buttons feel the same. If you want to mount this TV in a portrait mode, you won’t be able to do it.

Summary

This outdoors TV is not cheap. That will probably be the deciding factor for you.

If you don’t need the 4K resolution, then there is no doubt, this television set is a good choice. The screen is bright and works well under direct sunlight. The tempered glass shield is great at keeping the screen safe from shattering.

Yes, using the remote controller can be annoying, but after a while, you will get used to it.

In the end, the Pro Series Direct Sun is a good choice for cafe owners who want to entertain their guests. It is also a good choice for people who want entertainment in their backyard without worrying about the sun.

The Evervue Cosmos is an exterior television with Smart capabilities. It is a good choice if you need a small screen for your patio, backyard, cafe, restaurant, and more.

Evervue is a company that creates state of the art technology, and the Cosmos is not any different. It is an outdoor model built to resist harsh weather conditions.

The Evervue Cosmos 4K comes in 32”, 40”, 50”, 58”, 75”, and 85” screen sizes. We will focus on the 40” model.

Design and Features

The fact that Cosmos 4K is rugged is obvious. The first thing you will notice is the stainless-steel cladding around its chassis. The cladding sets the Evervue Cosmos apart from other exterior units. It gives the black chassis a neat aesthetic appeal, apart from protecting it. You might worry about the cladding getting scratched, which is valid. But, Evervue thought about it in advance. The company includes a buffing pad that will help you polish any scratches.

The chassis comes with an IPX4 water resistance rating. A lot of thought has been put into securing Cosmos 4K from weather elements. Being rust-proof only adds up to the robustness of this television set.

The chassis houses a large metal power button on the side, which some will find attractive, while the others won’t.

We love the fact that the Cosmos has a climate-control system. It can deal with hot and cold weather. If you are curious about the operating temperature range, you will be happy to know that it is great. The Evervue Cosmos can operate in temperatures from -30°F to 140°F. Note that the climate-control system works independently of the television. You shouldn’t unplug the unit, instead, you should power it off.

Unfortunately, the Cosmos isn’t thin. Add to it the stand and the sunshade attachment, and it becomes even thicker. Not only is it thick, but it is also heavy. If you want to pick it up, you will strain since it weighs whopping 80 pounds.

If you own a cafe or a restaurant, and you leave the TV outside, you have to worry about thieves stealing your TV. Fortunately, the Cosmos can fit Kingston type locks, providing you with a peace of mind.

Cosmos 4K comes with a 20ft power cable. The power cable is water-resistant thanks to the built-in insulator.

When it comes to the ports, the Cosmos includes only one HDMI input and one USB port. You will notice the 3.5mm audio output and a power connector. You will also find a VGA connector, as well as an RCA connector. The compartment that holds ports includes foam-rubber gaskets that protect from moisture.

The Cosmos includes a second compartment that holds everything needed for Smart functionality. It includes an Android set-top box and a Docooler A5X Plus Mini 4K HD TV Box. You will also notice the power output and an IR in/out port. If you want to swap the Android box for something else, you can do it. But, there is a caveat-you will have to run a cable from the first compartment.

Cosmos is sold as a Smart device, but actually, it’s an outdoor television set with a separate Android TV box pre installed. So, you won’t be receiving one remote controller, but two. One is for the television, the other one is for Android TV. Unfortunately, the Android remote is not weatherproof, so keep it safe. Note that the television set supports 4K, but the Android box does not. Don’t expect to watch YouTube or Netflix in 4K, only in 1080p.

The picture quality is pretty good in partial sun. The boosted brightness helps against the annoying glare effect. You might notice that some colors are oversaturated, but an untrained eye probably won’t.

When it comes to audio, we can’t praise it. The steel case that protects the unit makes the audio sound distorted. Unfortunately, the sound clarity isn’t as good as we had hoped it would be. Fortunately, you can connect a soundbar or speakers, which fixes the problem.

Things to Consider

The biggest gripe we have with this model is the Smart functionality. Unfortunately, Evervue Cosmos is a television with a separate Android box.

The display could’ve been a bit better. Most people don’t notice problems with the picture quality, but if you do, you might get annoyed watching this TV.

You will probably want to use a mounting system and a sun cover, but you will have to pay extra. Fortunately, there are many mounting options.

Summary

The Evervue Cosmos is not cheap. Fortunately, it is one of the beefier television sets we have reviewed. It resists bumps and scratches, and it works in a multitude of weather environments.

You can enjoy movies and shows in 4K from a hot tub, and you can add external speakers. The Sun Cap is an added expense, but it prevents birds from decorating your television with droppings.

If you need an outdoor TV with Smart options, and you don’t want to worry about the weather, consider the Evervue Cosmos.

https://solidguides.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/LG-C8-OLED.jpg
  • Fantastic 4K picture quality
  • Smart functionality

  • Direct sunlight can damage it
  • Burn-in risks
  • Not as bright as LCD TVs

This is not a “true” outdoor TV, but it can be used as one nonetheless.

The first thing you will notice is a gorgeous, modern design of the C8 OLED TV. It is extremely thin and sleek. It is a perfect television set to use indoors and outdoors.

So, if you want a television with superb picture quality and 4K capabilities, you might want to think about this one.

Design and Features

The LG C8 is available in 55”, 65”, and 77” screen sizes. The bezel that keeps the screen in place is extremely small, almost invisible. The stand curves forward, which might be a bit strange. Fortunately, the curvature helps direct the sound from the down-firing speakers.

Since the C8 isn’t built for exterior usage per se, it doesn’t come with a sturdy chassis that protects it from the elements. You need to be careful when using this model outdoors. You shouldn’t leave it out in the rain because it is not waterproof. You should avoid using it in direct sunlight since it can get damaged. The best practice is to use LG C8 in a covered area during nighttime.

When it comes to picture quality, it is hard to beat this model. It includes an LG OLED panel that has been proven as excellent. Emissive Technology produces perfect blacks, which is excellent during nighttime. This unit doesn’t have a backlight, instead, every pixel lights up on its own.

The depth and sharpness are precise, which boosts the picture quality further. The response time is exceptional, which means that you can enjoy sports without worrying about blurring. You can also play 60FPS video games without any hiccups. The LG C8 is truly made for entertainment. Don’t worry about the input lag in games because it is 21ms. It is not perfect, but it’s nothing that will ruin your gaming experience.

The C8 offers you various Cinema settings that reduce contrast and keep luminance in check. You should play around with the settings to find the perfect one for 4K videos. You should make sure that Just Scan option is set to On instead of Auto. If you leave it on auto, you will notice artifacts in 4K videos.

When it comes to audio, we haven’t noticed anything spectacular. The 40W sound system works pretty well considering that LG C8 is very thin. The C8 includes the Dolby Atmos decoder, which allows you to connect your set-top box to the television.

When it comes to ports, the C8 includes four 4K-ready HDMI ports. You also get three USB ports and a digital optical audio output. Since this is a Smart TV, it comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

If you have used an LG television before, you know how the WebOS functions. Not much has changed from the previous versions, but that’s not a problem. It is still intuitive and highly responsive. The WebOS allows you to choose different streaming services, but it includes more useful features. You can switch connected devices, view the gallery, run a web browser, and view the Content Store.

If you’ve never used WebOS before, don’t worry it is easy to use. The voice controls are built into the remote controller. LG has added artificial intelligence to the WebOS named ThinQ AI. It enables the television to communicate with other devices that support ThinQ AI. ThinQ is compatible with Amazon Echo AI speakers and Google Home.

Things to Consider

The LG C8 is excellent, but not for all exterior uses. You have to be careful when using this unit outdoors since it can easily get damaged by bad weather. You should never leave it out in sunlight, even when it is turned off.

OLED TVs are known to have problems with image retention and sometimes even screen burn. Keep that in mind if you decide to play video games for countless hours on it. Yes, this LG model comes with an option that helps to reduce the burn-in effect, but it’s wise to be careful.

While the brightness is OK, it isn’t as bright as on LCD television sets. Another problem with brightness is that it changes with screen content.

Summary

The LG C8 OLED TV is excellent. You can use it indoors and outdoors, but make sure that you protect the TV from weather elements.

You can enjoy sports, movies, TV shows, and video games without sacrificing picture quality. While the sound is not bad, it can get better if you use external speakers. Smart features are intuitive and useful. You can control multiple smart home devices without a problem.

The picture quality is near-perfect. The blacks are deep and uniform, and color reproduction is very good. Wide viewing angles only enhance the picture clarity of this TV.

Finally, the LG C8 looks great and works well. The best part is that it is much less expensive than “proper” outdoor TVs.

SkyVue is a well-known brand when it comes to outdoor TVs. The NGX is an attractive outdoor model that comes in multiple colors. You can get it in black, white, sandstone, slate gray, and brown colors.

It is a 32” outside television with a very bright panel that produces clear images even under direct sunlight.

It is designed for exterior use, and as such, it is a good fit for your backyard, patio, cafe, and more. It can come with a built-in Roku system, but you will have to pay extra.

Design and Features

The NXG is a well-built unit that can survive harsh weather conditions. The aluminum casing protects it from rain and snow, and the anti-glare panel provides sun protection.

The panel produces clear images, so you can install the NXG next to a pool where it will be under the full blast of the sun’s rays. The picture quality won’t suffer because NXG handles reflections very well. The fact that the viewing angles are pretty decent only adds up to the enjoyment factor.

Thanks to the IP55 waterproof rating you don’t have to worry about direct water splashes. Since this television is water-tight, you might worry about it getting hot. Don’t fret, because SkyVue made sure that this unit is properly ventilated. You can add a protective cover, but it will cost you extra.

The colors are powder coated and look great. You can fit the look of NXG to your environment. Bear in mind that the back of it always comes in satin black.

The NXG is a full 1080p HDTV, but it lacks the 4K resolution, which isn’t a huge problem. If you want Smart features, you can choose a built-in Roku system. Unfortunately, you will have to cough up more dough for the built-in Roku system.

SkyVue claims that it has the “Best Audio in the Market”, which you might not notice because this TV comes without a speaker bar. Yes, you will have to pay extra if you want any sound.

This television set comes with a weatherproof remote controller that is programmable. It doesn’t have any notable features, but it is not awful.

When it comes to inputs, you will find all of the ones you have come to expect. HDMI is expected, and so is the USB port. You will find a VGA input, as well as the component one. You can use the 3.5mm audio out or the coaxial SPDIF audio out. You can even connect an antenna to the NXG.

Things to Consider

The NXG is a very good television set, but it comes only at the 32” size. If you want to entertain a larger crowd, the size of it will be a problem.

It is easy to access the input ports, but only during the initial setup. Once you mount this television to a wall, switching inputs becomes difficult.

Unfortunately, this television doesn’t come cheap, and you will be left wondering why it has to be that way.

Summary

The SkyVue NXG Full Sun is a great open air unit with minor annoyances. The fact that it lacks the 4K resolution is not a big problem considering the quality of the picture.

The NXG is weatherproof and highly-usable outdoors. It can survive water splashes and direct sunlight. Moreover, the picture quality remains great even in direct sunlight.

It is not a Smart device, but it can become one if you decide to pay more. The brightness is exceptional, and the anti-glare only adds to the fact.

All in all, if you want a television set that can survive plenty, the NXG might be what you need. It is sturdy, looks great and provides a gorgeous picture under direct sunlight.

Seura is a well-known name when it comes to exterior television sets. The Storm Series combines awesome brightness with anti-glare technology. The result is a unit that can be enjoyed outdoors in extreme weather.

The Seura Storm Series Outdoor TV comes in 42″, 49″, 55″, 65″ & 84″ screen sizes. Having a large choice of sizes is always appreciated for it lets you choose a perfect fit for your yard, patio, or a cafe.

The Storm TV looks great. It boasts a modern design that makes it well-suited for different environments. It comes in black color and features small bezels. It is a good choice for outdoor viewing year-round.

Design and Features

The Seura Storm Series might not look like it can handle harsh weather, but it surely can. It comes with Seura’s Triple-Lock Seal that provides three barriers of protection. It keeps the internal components safe from moisture, dust, ice, extreme temperatures, and insects. Seura Storm Series is extremely durable and it can thrive in harsh weather conditions. Its operating temperature range is from -30°F to 122°F, and the humidity range is 20% – 80%.

When it comes to the display, we must say that it’s pretty good. It shows a good-looking picture and maintains it in different lighting conditions. The contrast remains great, no matter the light. Most of the other models have bad viewing angles, but not the Seura Storm Series. You will notice a different picture at different angles, but nothing jarring.

If you are not satisfied with the image quality and/or color reproduction, you can mess around with settings. Try adjusting the brightness, hue, color, and contrast until you are satisfied with the image quality.

The screen is protected with safety glass with anti-reflective and anti-glare properties. The screen hosts high TNI panels that can withstand extreme heat. Even better, the panels prevent isotropic blackout in direct sunlight.

This television comes with an active airflow system that does wonders in reducing the heat. The Seura Storm Series shouldn’t have any problems with overheating, so you can mount it above an outdoor fireplace.

The IPX65 weather rating helps this unit withstand water splashes. If you want a television set for your hot tub, you should consider the Seuna Storm Series.

When it comes to the ports, you will find three HDMI ports and one USB port. Seura Storm Series also allows for composite and component inputs, as well as VGA and coaxial inputs. You can connect almost any device to it.

Seura put two 10W internal speakers into this unit, which is not bad. Fortunately, the inclusion of digital audio outputs allows you to connect the TV to your sound system.

The remote controller is surprisingly good. It is waterproof, and you don’t have to pay extra for it. Besides the controls we have come to expect, this remote includes some advanced controls. You can adjust the aspect ratio of the TV, which is useful when you switch from cable television to a 1080p video. We are surprised to see the inclusion of a subtitles button. You can easily turn subtitles on or off with the push of a button.

Things to Consider

Unfortunately, the price of Seura Storm Series is high. Another annoyance is the lack of the 4K resolution.

While we expect outdoor TVs to be heavy, Seura Storm Series might put the strongest of you to the test. The weight ranges from 50 to over 100 pounds, depending on the screen size. Make sure that you have a family member or a friend nearby when removing the television out of the box.

Another noticeable problem is the fan noise. If you sit close to this unit, you will probably hear the hum of the fan. Fortunately, this is an outdoor TV, so the chances of you noticing the fan noise are small.

Summary

The Seura Storm Series Outdoor TV is a good choice for people who need television in a pool. Its IPX65 weather rating allows it to survive water splashes and humid weather.

You can use this TV during harsh weather conditions, and the Triple-Lock Seal will protect it.

The screen is good enough for different lighting conditions, and it can even adjust itself. The TNI panels prevent an isotropic blackout, which makes this model excellent for cafes, pools, and cabanas.

Finally, bear in mind that Seura Storm Series is very heavy, so seek someone to help you during the installation.

The Vizio P Series Quantum is another television that isn’t specifically for outdoor use. Fortunately, it can be used outdoors under the right conditions.

The word “quantum” is related to the display technology inside this model. Quantum dots are a filter layer inside LED-backlit LCD TVs. Quantum dots help the television produce the best and brightest picture. They are the culprits behind sharp and vibrant colors. The only thing better than a display with quantum dots is an OLED display.

The P Series Quantum comes in two sizes-65” and 75”. You will notice that it is very thin, only 2” at its thickest. It looks gorgeous and is a good fit anywhere, provided that you have enough room for it.

Design and Features

It is hard not to notice the sheer size of the P Series Quantum TV. It is a massive television set that looks great in a cabana, cafe, restaurant, and any other area with shade.

Since this model is not weatherproof, we don’t recommend leaving it out in the open. The sun can and will damage it, as well as the rain. Fortunately, the build quality is very good. We haven’t noticed any areas that look like they could easily break. Overall, P Series Quantum feels sturdy.

When it comes to image quality, this television is one of the best. The colors are rich and vivid, and the picture is sharp, provided you sit in front of it. The fact that it supports 4K is awesome and makes any movie look amazing. It supports HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG. If you require excellent image quality, look no further.

The built-in 10W audio speakers are good enough, but you can use your own set if you’re so inclined. The P Series Quantum is loud enough and produces clear sounds.

If you want to play video games on it, you will have a good time. The P Series Quantum TV has a low input lag, providing you with hassle-free gaming experience. You can sit down in front of it and enjoy Battlefield 5 without feeling inferior to other players.

The Vizio P Series Quantum is a Smart television set. The interface helps you find anything you need, despite being laggy. You won’t find an app store on it, but you can stream apps from your smartphone. Don’t fret, because you will find some useful built-in apps.

You can use your voice with Google Home and Amazon Alexa to control the unit. While the remote controller is compact, it lacks modern features. Vizio P Series Quantum comes with built-in Chromecast support, and it provides access to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and more. The fact that this television is one of the first ones to offer Apple AirPlay 2 should convince you of its Smart capabilities.

When it comes to inputs, the P Series Quantum gives you 5 HDMI inputs. You will also find a component input, an Ethernet port, and a USB port. Analog audio out and SPDIF digital out allow you to connect the television to your outdoor speakers.

Things to Consider

We are sad to say that the viewing angles are awful. Yes, the picture quality is great, but that doesn’t matter much if you have to sit directly in front of the TV. The viewing angles are not a big problem if you are the only person watching a movie. But, if you want to entertain a couple of guests, not everyone will have the same experience.

Since the P Series Quantum isn’t a “real” outdoor TV, you have to be very careful when using it outdoors. Make sure that the TV doesn’t come into contact with water and direct sunlight.

While the speakers are loud and don’t produce any distortions, the bass is bland. If you plan to watch movies and play video games, we advise you to use your speakers instead of the built-in ones.

Summary

The Vizio P Series Quantum is a great model, despite some minor flaws. Before using it outside, make sure that it is protected from the weather elements, and you will have no problems.

The picture quality can’t be compared to other exterior models, it is excellent. The blacks are deep, the colors are gorgeous and rich, and the brightness is pretty good. The Chromecast support will make your life easier and boost your enjoyment.

If you are a gamer who wants to enjoy warm weather during gaming, this model might be an excellent choice.

Useful Info About Outdoor TVs

Outdoor TVs are a great source of entertainment during warm summer days and cold winter evenings. Spending time outdoors with friends and family is a great way to unwind and relax. Add a TV set, and outdoor hangouts are enriched with movies, sports, and video games.

Adding an outdoor television set to your cabana, patio, pool, backyard, cafe, or a restaurant isn’t hard. What can get hard is the part where you have to do the research. What kind of construction is good? What kind of weather protection is needed? Can I secure my outdoor TV? These and many other questions rush through the mind of a new outdoor television user.

Our guide will answer all the mentioned questions, and then some. We have spent a lot of time researching outdoor TVs, so you don’t have to.

Are Outdoor TVs Different From Indoor TVs?

Yes, they are. The first thing you will notice is that the outdoor models are bulkier than the indoor ones. Outdoor TVs weigh more than indoor units, and they are less prone to shattering thanks to shatterproof glass.

Outdoor TVs have weatherproofing, which makes them handle extreme temperatures with ease. An indoor television set can’t survive rain, snow, dust, and sunlight, but an outside model can.

Since outdoor TVs have to provide a clear picture under sunlight, their displays are brighter than the ones on indoor models.

Finally, outdoor TVs are more expensive than indoor TVs.

Does My Environment Play a Role?

While the best outdoor TV can fit almost any place, you need to be aware of your surroundings.

You should figure out where you would like to install your new outdoor television. Does that area have many hours of direct sunlight? If yes, you should look at TVs with a bright LED panel. The brightness of over 700 nits is OK, but it doesn’t hurt to go over.

You should also figure out whether there are risks of the television getting wet. If you live in a rainy area or you want a TV next to your pool, you will need a water-resistant model.

Will you be using your TV during the winter? If yes, how much does it snow during the year? Know the answer to the above questions before making a purchase. If you live in an area where winters are cold and there is lots of snow, you need a weather-tolerant TV.

Waterproof vs. Water Resistant

It is important to note that being waterproof isn’t the same as being water-resistant.

Waterproof devices are impervious to water, and some of them can operate underwater. On the other hand, water-resistant devices resist water, but up to a point. You can’t submerge water-resistant devices.

While most of the outdoor TVs are not waterproof, the best ones are water-resistant. Good outdoor TVs come with a waterproof remote controller that can be submerged into water. Bear in mind that waterproof devices shouldn’t be left submerged for a long time. So, if your remote drops into your pool, don’t fret, but don’t wait for too long before taking it out.

Is the Screen Protected?

Most of the outside TVs come with some sort of protection for the screen. The good ones come with an anti-glare screen. The anti-glare screen is a must if you want to keep your TV out in the open. There is nothing else that can quickly ruin the mood as the sun’s glare. So, to avoid glare problems, find an outdoor TV with an anti-reflective display.

If you plan on playing with a ball close to your outside TV, you will need to find a model with an impact-resistant display. Impact-resistant displays won’t shatter if your child hits it with a ball or if one of your rowdy friends manages to knock it over. So, to avoid shattered glass in your yard or a pool, find a TV with an impact-resistant display.

Is the TV Weather Tolerant?

This is, quite possibly, one of the most important questions. While most of the outdoor TV manufacturers claim that their units are weather-tolerant, the truth is a bit different.

Yes, most of the outdoor TVs are created to be weather-tolerant, but not all of them are equally weather-tolerant.

Good manufacturers will inform you of the Ingress Protection (IP) rating of their product. You will notice that the IP rating consists of two numbers. The first number tells you how well the device is protected against solid objects. Never go below number five. If the first IP rating number is five, then the device is protected from dust. Moreover, if the first number is six, then the device is dust-tight.

The second IP rating number tells you how well the device is protected from liquids. Number four shows that the device is protected from splashing water. Number five tells that the device is safe from water jets coming out of 6.33mm nozzles. Number six shows that powerful water jets (12.5mm nozzle) have no harmful effects. Finally, the numbers seven and eight tell you that the device can be submerged into the water. Up to 1m if the number is seven, and beyond 1m if the number is eight.

Our advice is not to go below the IP rating of 55, while everything above is more than good enough.

You might notice an IPX rating, which can be a bit confusing. The “X” denotes that there is no value for that number, so you can assume that it is zero. That may not be the case, but it’s better not to take any risks. Basically, IPX5 means that the device has unknown protection from solid objects, but has protection against low-pressure water jets.

Can I Prevent Theft of an Outdoor TV?

Most of the outdoor TVs come with no protection from thieves, but you can do something about it.

The best outdoor TVs support Kensington Security locks, which saves you a lot of trouble. Unfortunately, most of the outdoor TVs are a good target if you leave them with no protection.

You could use an alarm that is triggered when a tether between the TV and the alarm is broken. Unfortunately, alarms don’t stop thieves from running away with their haul.

Luckily, there are ways to complicate the life of a would-be thief, which is, most of the time, enough to drive them away. If you mount a TV to the wall, you can screw on a heavy-duty cable to the back of the TV. Pull the cable through the mount, and loop it back. Lock the ends of the cable together and cover the screws with access caps.

If you are not keen on DIY projects, you can find anti-theft security kits online. You can use those kits on your indoor TVs as well.

Features to Consider

Before you can say that you know everything about outdoor TVs, there are a couple of features to consider.

  • Brightness: This should be the first thing you should consider. If you plan on having an outdoor TV in a place with lots of sunlight, you need a bright display. We mentioned that brightness of 700 nits is good, but you can always go higher. Some models come with a brightness of over 1000 and 2000 nits.
  • Resolution: The bigger the resolution, the clearer the picture. Never go for an outdoor TV with a resolution under 1080p, it simply won’t be good enough. While 1080p is good, you can go for 4K models. Bear in mind that 4K TVs tend to be pricey.
  • Colors: Try to find a TV that can show bright and vibrant colors. Try to test the TV before you buy it. Check whether the colors smudge during fast-paced action. You should also check whether the blacks are deep. Avoid models where blacks are actually gray.
  • Viewing angles: You see the best picture when you sit in front of a TV (0° angle). But, when the angle changes, so do the black levels and contrast. The best TV shows almost the same picture when viewed at a 30° angle. The best way to find out the viewing angles of a TV is to test them. Stand in front of a TV, and start moving to the left or right. Try to notice when the colors start to washout and shift. Note the loss of brightness and how it shifts. This way, you will find an exterior TV with viewing angles that suit your needs.
  • Construction materials: Avoid plastic as much as you can. If outdoor TV includes plenty of plastic, make sure that it is tough enough to withstand punishment. Try to find a TV with aluminum body construction. Aluminum can conform to a large range of temperatures, while plastic can’t.
  • Vents & fans: Some outdoor TVs come with vents and fans to keep them cool. The problem is that those units require maintenance. Vents and fans can collect dust, so you will need to clean them. Fans don’t have an unlimited lifespan, so you might need to replace them after a while. If you don’t mind a bit of maintenance, you don’t have to pay attention to the vents and fans. Contrarily, if you don’t want to waste time on maintenance, find a completely sealed outdoor TV.
  • Smart features: Some outdoor television sets allow you to pair them with voice assistants, browse the web, use apps, and enjoy streaming services. If you want an outside TV that boosts the entertainment factor, go for a smart exterior TV. Bear in mind that those models tend to be more expensive. You should also know that some outdoor TVs include an Android box, which gives them certain features. Those TVs are not “truly” smart, but are a decent alternative.
  • Sound: The best outdoor TVs include in-built speakers, which tend to be OK. Some models include a weatherproof soundbar, while the others come without any speakers. Most of the outside TVs allow you to connect your sound system to them, but some don’t. Consider the importance of sound, because it will help you find the best exterior TV.
  • Aesthetics: Outdoor TVs tend to be bulky, which makes some of them look ugly. Luckily, there are plenty of models that look great. Some manufacturers allow you to even change the color of your new outdoor TV. So, think about where you will be placing an outdoor TV, and figure out how to complement that area with a TV.

As you can see, buying the best outdoor TV forces you to learn a lot, but it is worth it. We hope that you will have countless hours of fun with your new outdoor TV. Keep the useful info in your mind, and your next purchase will be satisfactory.
