Stunning craftsmanship, beautiful presentation, and affordably-priced. The Kain 120 is the best value for your gaming buck. The moment you grip your hand around this mouse, you know you’re in for a treat.

ROCCAT used the popular Titan components in the construction of the Kain 120, and its advantages are evident. From button inputs to the mouse wheel, you can instantly tell you’re using a quality accessory.

Mice by their nature are quite ergonomic in design. But the Kain 120 takes that a step further by delivering one of the most comfortable models we’ve ever used. This is one solid and well-crafted mouse. The clever positioning of textured grips help give you authoritative control during gameplay.

This is made even better by the Kain 120’s lightning-fast response-time. We definitely saw an improvement in functionality thanks to this fine piece of gaming equipment.

If you’ve used a mouse for any length of time, you know how quickly they collect dirt. They are magnets for accumulating filth. ROCCAT knows this is a problem and has worked to reduce it by applying a special coating that keeps grime from building up.

Mechanically-speaking, we really enjoyed the wheel. It has a wonderful feel to it and is very responsive. Its pin-point precision is once again made possible by the use of Titan parts.

At just 3.2 ounces, the Kain 120 is a little on the light side. Depending on the type of game you’re playing, you may want a mouse with a bit more weight to it. Aside from that subjective complaint, you can’t find a better gaming mouse for the price.

Features

  • 8-millisecond response
  • Weighs 3.2 ounces
  • Titan components
  • Textured grips
  • LED lighting
  • 16,000 DPI

Ease of Use

With its incredible response-time, you’ll have the edge you’re looking for to dust your competition. Your fingers rest naturally over the wheel and buttons, making it much easier to input commands.

If you read our reviews on the best gaming keyboards, you saw that Logitech had the best wireless option with their G915 LIGHTSPEED. Now you can complete the combo by getting the best wireless gaming mouse, the G502 LIGHTSPEED. These two go perfectly well together, forming the ultimate wireless gaming setup.

You’re going to pay quite a bit more for this accessory. But the quality you get is unrivaled. Gamers often steer clear of wireless keyboards and mice because their response times can be hit-or-miss. Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED series completely crushes any concerns for delay.

When you enter a command, you’re looking at no greater than 1 millisecond of time between input and response. You’ll be able to play from afar in the comfort of your favorite chair without fear of lagging behind in your game.

Just looking at the G502 tells you that there is something special about this mouse. It is built with the ingenuity of a spacecraft and looks just as complex. For the serious gamer, this is exactly what you want.

The G502 sports RGB lighting technology that allows you to customize the mouse with over 16 million colors. You can program it to display different colors or each game, giving you better immersion and personalization.

There are a total of 11 buttons and a scroll wheel on the G502 that can be customized. You can assign different commands to each one for the ultimate in versatility. This mouse is also equipped with a weight system.

There are 6 small weights that can be removed or added to give the mouse just the right balance and feel. Is the G502’s 13-ounce weight too much for you? Simply take off one or two of these small units for the perfect amount of weight.

This is a great feature that lets your mouse better accommodate different games. For strategies, you may want less weight, while with shooters you may want more. These small weight units are a cinch to use, helping to add a layer of realism to your gameplay.

Features

  • 1-millisecond response time
  • 11 customizable buttons
  • 60 hours of gameplay
  • Weighs 13 ounces
  • 16,000 DPI

Ease of Use

Beginners will likely be overwhelmed with everything the G502 has to offer. But for hardcore gamers, this mouse is exactly what’s needed to edge out the competition. With its many programmable features, you get everything you need for a better gaming experience.

4. Glorious Model O Review - Best Lightweight Mouse

https://solidguides.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Glorious-Model-O-194x175.jpg
  • Nice button response
  • Lighting looks great
  • Lengthy cable
  • Ergonomic
  • May not be enough weight for some users
check price

The first thing you’ll likely notice about the Model O is that it’s riddled with holes. You may think that this is an aesthetic choice, but further review tells you that it actually serves a purpose. This is because the Model O is one of the most lightweight gaming mice you’ll come across.

At just 2.08 ounces, Glorious used as little plastic as possible in the Model O’s construction. But they did it in a way that looks attractive and feels great to hold. The ergonomics suit gameplay very well, and you get lots of customization.

You get a total of 6 programmable buttons. These let you customize the mouse to accommodate a wide variety of play styles. We really like the button placement, too. Your fingers rest naturally over them, giving you a comfortable grip that feels right.

The RGB LED lighting looks quite stunning with the unique design of the Model O. Colors really pop and appear bright and vivid. You can get this mouse with either a black or white shell. One looks just as classy as the other.

A 6.5-foot braided cable connects you to your gaming device. You’ll have plenty of room to play and won’t have to worry about fighting with tangles. Each part of this mouse feels great, cable included.

Being as lightweight as it is, the Model O is certainly not for everyone. Depending on your gaming genre of choice, you may find this mouse to be too light. Another issue some may have with it is the software. You’ll need to register with Glorious PC Gaming’s lighting software if you want to have access to changing the lighting’s behavior.

This is a common theme, with some working better than others. We’re not the biggest fan of this setup, but the Model O’s software works surprisingly well. It’s easy to install and get rolling.

Features

  • 6 customizable buttons
  • Weighs 2.08 ounces
  • RGB LED lighting
  • 6.5-foot cable
  • 12,000 DPI

Ease of Use

Having 6 programmable buttons gives you plenty of versatility to play your games just the way you need. The 2.08-ounce design works really well, all things considered. If weight isn’t a big deal to you, this is one of the best lightweight mice on the market.

5. ASUS ROG Spatha Review - Best for Roleplaying Games

https://solidguides.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/ASUS-ROG-Spatha-192x175.jpg
  • Optional wireless mode
  • Lots of customization
  • Durable construction
  • Comfortable to use
  • Perfect for RPGs
  • Not for beginners or casual gamers
check price

If you love playing RPGs and want to get the most out of your gaming experience, you have to try the ROG Spatha. It’s made of heavy-duty materials and gives you lots of customizations to work with.

ASUS used magnesium alloy in the construction of the ROG Spatha. It’s extremely durable and built like a tank. Resting your hand on the mouse immediately tells you that you’re using a quality-made accessory.

The mouse is very smooth to the touch and feels great to hold and operate. Moving the ROG Spatha over surfaces feels smooth as silk. There’s no lag of any kind, with inputs both quick and responsive.

There are a total of 12 programmable buttons, making this the perfect mouse for in-depth roleplaying games. You can play up close or at a distance thanks to the option to play wired or wirelessly.

If playing wired, a simple micro-USB cable inserts directly into the front of the unit. You can also conveniently charge up while you play.

The lighting gives you over 16 million colors to choose from for a more personalized feel with every game you play. It suits this mouse very well due to its unique and beefy design.

If we had a gripe, it would have to be the layout. It definitely takes some getting used to, as it’s awfully big compared to traditional mice. Interestingly, ASUS was able to keep the weight down rather significantly.

At just a little over 6 ounces, it certainly isn’t the lightest of gaming mice. But it’s not too heavy, either. We think you’ll find the weight just right, especially for roleplaying and strategy games.

Features

  • 12 programmable buttons
  • Play wired or wirelessly
  • Swappable switches
  • Weighs 6.2 ounces
  • 8,200 DPI

Ease of Use

This mouse is definitely better suited toward veterans. It’s loaded with features and programmable buttons, serving to give you great versatility in your gaming. Users will find that the ROG Spatha is a gamer’s paradise thanks to all the features you get.

  • Excellent build-quality
  • Super-fast response
  • Great for shooters
  • Nice balance
  • Having to use Synapse for customization
check price

If you’re a serious gamer who wants the perfect balance of comfort and functionality, Razer has you covered. The DeathAdder V2 is one tough gaming mouse.

It’s built to withstand rigorous gaming sessions thanks to its textured rubber housing and solid design. It has the perfect weight for a mouse of this build-quality.

The DeathAdder V2 makes use of over 16 million colors for vibrant and effective lighting. The scroll wheel and Razer logo both light up to add the perfect amount of mood to your gaming experience.

It also boasts a 20,000-DPI sensor that delivers precise and accurate gameplay. Button inputs are highly-responsive, helping you stay on top of your opponents.

Lag is the last thing you’ll have to worry about with the DeathAdder V2. This is due to Razer implementing optical switches, which are three times faster than mechanical switches.

What’s great is that you can program up to 8 buttons on the DeathAdder V2, giving you loads of customization. You can save up to 5 profiles at a time, giving you greater versatility in your gaming.

The overall design of the DeathAdder V2 might be a little on the plain side. But it sure makes up for its looks by giving you a reliable mouse that works like a charm.

Features

  • 8 programmable buttons
  • Customizable lighting
  • Weighs 7.8 ounces
  • Optical switches
  • 20,000 DPI

Ease of Use

Users will have to make use of Razer’s Synapse software to make changes. This isn’t the greatest customization software, and holds Razer back from being rated higher. The functionality of the DeathAdder V2 is simply fantastic. But many will be turned off by the awful Synapse system.

7. ROCCAT Kone Pure Ultra Review - Best for Beginners

https://solidguides.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/ROCCAT-Kone-Pure-Ultra-87x175.jpg

  • Comfortable
  • Easy to use
  • Affordable
  • Limited customization
check price

ROCCAT is back with another lightweight entry into gaming mice. The Kone Pure Ultra provides gamers with an ergonomic and comfortable mouse that is sure to impress with its many features.

You’re getting a great-looking mouse that sports AIMO lighting. It complements this model well, with vibrant colors that react to your usage.

At just 2.4 ounces, it’s a breeze to operate. Some may find it to be a bit too light, but we found it to be a pleasure to use. ROCCAT envelopes the Kone Pure Ultra with their proprietary performance coating.

This stuff is great at repelling dirt and grime. You’ll be able to play for as long as you like without fear of build-up interfering with your gameplay. The mouse remains grippy and comfortable to hold.

Durability is superb on the Kone Pure Ultra thanks to its high-quality finish and heavy-duty construction. It’s made to withstand even the most serious of gamers. It performs wonderfully and delivers fantastic gameplay mechanics.

It boasts 16,000 DPI for precise and accurate gaming. Button response is equally stellar, as is its scroll wheel. This is due to ROCCAT once again using Titan components.

The overall size of the mouse is a bit on the large side, but we found this to be perfect. It’s a good choice for those with large hands who need more real estate on their mice.

Features

  • Dirt-resistant performance coating
  • AIMO lighting system
  • Weighs 2.4 ounces
  • Titan components
  • 16,000 DPI

Ease of Use

The Kone Pure Ultra makes a great entry for beginners. It’s easy to use and won’t overwhelm those just starting out. You can’t customize this mouse as much as other entries, but that might be a good thing depending on your skill level.

8. HyperX Pulsefire Surge Review - Most Budget-Friendly

https://solidguides.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/HyperX-Pulsefire-Surge-262x165.jpg
  • Affordably-priced
  • Fast response
  • Easy to learn
  • Simplistic
  • Cheaper overall construction
check price

On a tight budget and in need of a quality gaming mouse? HyperX delivers the goods and will even leave you with some spare change. Sure, there are cheaper units out there, but none quite as good as the Pulsefire Surge.

You get all the main staples, like RGB lighting and programmable buttons. Six are at your disposal to assign functions for all your favorite games. This is hands-down one of the easiest customizable mice to use.

Left-handed gamers will love this mouse for its ambidextrous design. But regardless of which hand you use, the Pulsefire Surge feels excellent and inviting. And less strains means longer gaming sessions.

The lighting looks equally stellar on HyperX’s mouse. Some mice just provide colors on the scroll wheel and brand logo. But the Pulsefire Surge’s lighting wraps around the entire mouse. It’s understated, yet adds so much more character.

Boasting 16,000 DPI, your accuracy and precision will be greatly improved. Gliding is silky-smooth thanks to a 3389 Pixart sensor. HyperX used Omron switches this time around. You’ll appreciate the responsiveness they deliver.

You’ll need to use HyperX’s NGENUITY software to make customization adjustments. But it’s quite user-friendly and works like a charm. And, you can even save your changes to the Pulsefire Surge’s onboard memory.

Features

  • 360-degree RGB light ring
  • Uses HyperX NGENUITY
  • Omron components
  • Weighs 4.6 ounces
  • 5.9-foot cable

Ease of Use

The Pulsefire Surge is a bit simplistic in its design. But it sure looks pretty nonetheless. This lends to its user-friendly features. This makes an excellent choice for beginners, as well. HyperX had to go with cheaper parts to keep costs low, but it’s still structurally sound.

There’s a bit more going on here compared to ROCCAT’s Kone Pure Ultra (Best for Beginners). But if you’re looking to pick up a mouse with more to learn, the Pulsefire Surge is definitely the way to go.

9. G.Skill Ripjaws MX780 Review - Best for Sports Games

https://solidguides.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/G.Skill-Ripjaws-MX780-183x175.jpg
  • 8 programmable buttons
  • High customization
  • Onboard memory
  • Great price
  • Not very precise
  • Bulky construction
check price

It may look like a Transformer to the naked eye, but this indeed a gaming mouse. Its wild design lends well to sports games, in particular. The price is very respectable, coming in as the lowest of all our reviews.

You might be wondering why this didn’t win our ‘most budget-friendly’ award, and that’s because it just doesn’t perform as well as HyperX’s Pulsefire Surge. We want to ensure you’re getting the best for your money. And quite frankly, this isn’t it.

Many users will attest to the limitations of the MX780. It’s perfect for games that don’t require pin-point accuracy (i.e. sports titles, MMORPGs, etc.). If you’re looking for a great mouse for first-person shooters, you might want to steer clear of the MX780.

There is plenty to like about this mouse, though. Both left- and right-handed gamers can use it, and it has a lot of customizable properties. There are 8 buttons you can program and it has some decent lighting effects.

There’s even onboard memory so you can save your profiles. G.Skill went with Omron switches and they work quite well. We didn’t think it was as precise as other entries, but it works well enough with the right game.

Features

  • Interchangeable grips
  • Weighs 4.3 ounces
  • Ambidextrous
  • RGB lighting
  • 8,200 DPI

Ease of Use

There’s a lot going on here, so beginners might be intimidated by its funky design. But that also means there’s lots to customize. For the price, it makes a great addition to your gaming setup. But if you’re playing games that require precise controls, you’ll definitely want to switch mice.

10. ASUS ROG Gladius II Review - Most Attractive

https://solidguides.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/ASUS-ROG-Gladius-II-206x175.jpg
  • Nice customization
  • Great RGB lighting
  • Slick design
  • Affordable
  • Software can get buggy
  • Buttons sometimes stick
check price

What sets this gaming mouse apart from the others is its fantastic lighting. If you’re looking to add a lot of color to your gaming environment, the Gladius II is just for you.

It has commendable construction and delivers pretty accurate controls. Thanks to 12,000 DPI and IPS sensors, you’ll find that this is a great mouse for shooters and racings simulations.

ASUS used Omron switches and it really pays off. Input response is quite exceptional, making this a great addition to your collection. You may not want to use the Gladius II for all your gaming needs, but it’s nice to have when you need it.

The biggest downfall of this entry lies in its buggy software. We just had too many issues with it to call this a reliable gaming mouse. Some of the buttons get stuck from time to time, as well.

But again, the main draw of the Gladius II is definitely its spectacular light show. It is fun to use here and there and its price has dropped enough in recent months to recommend it as a secondary gaming mouse.

Features

  • Programmable buttons
  • Weighs 9.6 ounces
  • Omron switches
  • RGB lighting
  • 12,000 DPI

Ease of Use

You’ll have to use the ROG Armory software if you want to fully-customize the Gladius II. It’s actually quite user-friendly and easy to use. There’s a lot to play with here and should keep most gamers pretty busy.

Gaming Mouse Buyer’s Guide

PC gamers are known for caring deeply about their gaming peripherals. One of the most important pieces of gaming gear is the mouse.

Gaming mice allow you to play better than with common mice. They give you the power to reach your peak and defeat the opponents that seemed difficult to beat.

Before you purchase the first gaming mouse you see, you need to be aware of a few things. Luckily, you are in good hands. We’ve been gamers for a long time, and we have done plenty of research, so you don’t have to.

Types of Gaming Mice

Some gaming mice are good for many types of games, but others are suited for only one type. It is important to find a gaming mouse that suits your playstyle, as well as the game you are playing.

  • All-purpose: As the name implies, all-purpose gaming mice are a good choice for many different games. Yes, they might not have all of the bells and whistles suited for a particular gaming genre, but you will be able to use them in plenty of games. If you are a gamer who loves to try out new games, an all-purpose mouse might be what you need.
  • FPS: Battlefield, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, Overwatch, and other FPS games require a certain type of a mouse. Good FPS gaming mice allow you to change the DPI on the fly, which is extremely useful if you love to camp banana with an AWP. If you love to play Quake and other FPS games, then an FPS mouse is an obvious choice.
  • MMO: MMO players know how hard it can be to keep track of all of the keybinds. There is no worse feeling than wiping on a boss because you didn’t manage to bubble your tank. Luckily, MMO gaming mice allow you to keep all of your important skill at your fingertips. You will easily recognize them because they are bulky, and most of them come with a large number of buttons. If you keep losing in PVP and you would like to change that, then an MMO gaming mouse could help you.
  • Customizable: Customizable gaming mice allow you to change their length, width, palm rest, and more. They are a good choice if you have a unique grip or if the other mice don’t fit your playstyle. Bear in mind that customizable gaming mice tend to have a high price.

Do I Need a Wireless or a Wired Gaming Mouse?

Gone are the days when no gamer wanted to come close to a wireless mouse. Today’s wireless mice are no worse than their wired counterparts.

Wireless gaming mice are more expensive than the wired ones, but they keep your gaming space free from wires. If you purchase a wireless gaming mouse, be sure to get a couple of extra batteries for it.

Features to Look For

Before you can purchase a new gaming mouse that will make your game time more enjoyable, you need to be aware of a few features. Find a gaming mouse that comes with the following features, and you will be on your way to becoming a pro.

  • Polling rate: Polling rate influences the responsiveness of a gaming mouse. Usually, most of the mice have a polling rate of 125HZ, which is not enough for gaming. So, when you search for a gaming mouse, find a model with a polling rate of at least 250Hz. The best gaming mice have polling rates of 500Hz, 1000Hz, and more.
  • Weight: If you play a game where your reaction speed is important, avoid heavy mice. If you play an MMO, then the weight won’t play a huge role. But, make sure that you feel comfortable while using your gaming mouse. The best choice is to go for a mouse that comes with weights that can be added and removed. So, you can customize your gaming experience on the fly, if you get a mouse with weights.
  • DPI: The DPI(Dots Per Inch) of a mouse tells you how sensitive it is to the movement. The higher the DPI of a mouse, the higher its accuracy. Some of the mice come with 300DPI, the others with 600, and more. High-end gaming mice offer 1600DPI, 3200 DPI, and more. If you want more, then you will be glad to know that some mice offer over 10,000DPI, but we don’t think that’s necessary.
  • Wires: If you go for a wired gaming mouse, make sure that it comes with high-quality wires. Never skimp on the wires! If you do, you will be left with a useless mouse in no time. Try to find a gaming mouse with thick wires, or protected wires.
  • Aesthetics: Last but not least, your new mouse should look good next to your PC. If you care about the aesthetic appeal, find a mouse that compliments the rest of your gear. Luckily, that won’t be hard. Most of the gaming mice on the market boast intricate and colorful designs. So, take a closer look, and you will surely find a model that can satisfy your aesthetic desires.
